Next Steps Appointment- Wednesday

Wednesday I go in for my "Next Steps" appointment at my clinic. I will meet with the head doctor and the nurse practitioner to hear what their plans are for us. I am going to adamant about taking a break until the New Year. I have been thinking about seeking a second opinion as well, but first I want to listen to what our doctors have to say. This clinic is very convenient for me considering my work schedule. The other clinic I was looking into is over an hour away. I’m still not sure what we are going to do. For starters I am going to listen to what my doctors have to say and then go from there. The only thing I am sure of is that the next two months are going to be used for my healing – both mentally and physically.

So I have some questions that I am going to go into my clinic with. Those of you who have been in my shoes or have any ideas about additional questions that I should put out there please, please let me know what you are thinking in the comments. I welcome all thoughts-

My List of Questions So Far-
  1. Laparoscopy and or Hysteroscopy?
  2. Additional testing for me?

  3. Additional or more in depth SA?

  4. Immune testing?

I don’t have much as you can see so anything you guys can add?

  2. Have you had a HSG (I think that's what it's called, to check if your tubes are open?). I can't remember if you've already done that. We have our follow up appt in December and I plan to ask about that. Other than that I can't really think of anything, but I'm going to be stalking your comments to see what else I should be thinking about asking for ;)
I hope you're able to come away from the appointment feeling good about the next steps. And I hope the 2 month break is good for you both physically and emotionally! Hang in there Kasey!

    1. Yea I had my HSG last year. I want the Lap/Hyster because during my HSG they found some scar tissue, so I wonder if there is going to be anymore scar tissue there.

  6. Kasey, did they test your AMH? I definitely think they should do that before IVF because it can impact protocols.

    1. I think they checked AMH when I first started with this clinic, though thinking back I don't remember what the results were. I will double check for sure.

  7. I can almost guarantee that they won't want to do immune testing but i would absolutely force the issue. Unfortunately, I didn't push for extra testing before my first ivf because the RE thought it was unnecessary. In the end, it cost me 5 precious baby embryos. Go with your gut. If you end up doing ivf, there's really no need for a lap because ivf would bypass pretty much any issues you could have in that area. But maybe your dr will feel differently. An SIS (similar to HSG) is usually standard work up before ivf as well as hormone level testing and detailed SA. God bless. I hope your appointment goes great.
